1. Multi grain bread
Terms like multi grain and 7 grain sound very good on the packaging and to your brain in terms of health, but they aren’t. Whole grain contains bran, germ and endosperm which are essential parts of the grain and provide protein and essential vitamins and minerals. After processing, the bread loses nutrients of the whole grain and is labelled as “bleached” and aren’t healthy for you.
2. Diet Soda
Replacing refined sugar with artificial sweeteners is diet soda, which is even worse. Artificial sweeteners cause confusing sugar reaction which can cause diabetes and spike the insulin levels which turns it into stored fat. It also increases the risk of heart attacks.
3. Prepared salads
Prepared salads might seem very nutritious and are definitely better than junk food, but the appetising toppings with dollops of mayonnaise make them very fattening and unhealthy for consumption.
4. Dried fruits
Dried fruits might seem like an innocent snack because it spells fruit. But the sulphur dioxide used to preserve the fruits along with added sugar makes it closer to the candy category than fruits. It is unhealthy as compared to eating the fruit fresh. Pineapples, apricots and cranberries are the worst of the lot.
5. Cereals
It is the most convenient and popular breakfast option. But to create the cereals and flakes, the grains are processed multiple times which destroys the essential nutrients and gives you empty calories. Even with added fruits and ingredients, it isn’t a healthy option.
