Jane Doe29 year old RJ Roger aka Rajan Sahotra’s expedition to radio industry wasn’t easy. His father was not very fond of him because he was weak in studies. However RJ Roger aka Rajan Sohatra was an honest back bencher. He played with his imagination and loved everything except studies. With time, his attraction towards music intensified. This was the time when reality shows had become very popular. He tried his luck in many of these shows but was rejected.
Undeterred RJ Roger
The rejection did not break him. Soon he participated in Indian Idol 5, Sa re ga ma pa, X factor, voice of Punjab 2 and India’s got talent. Many a times he would reach the venue a day or two in advance to be the first one to get auditioned but all he got was rejection. This didn’t break him, rather he says, “dhakke khaye bagair dhakkon ko jhelna nahi aa sakta”.
Being brought up in Indian family, he was compelled to drop his passion and had to go for electrical engineering. But deep down within, his soul yearned for the platform to present his voice to millions. Not so long ago, his parents too realized that engineering is not what he is meant for.
However the parents had little hope from him. Rajan’s family had well educated people. His elder sister was a pilot in Jet Airways and brothers were working in senior positions as well. To make both ends meet, he worked in a call centre and also as a voice and accent trainer.
Passion Prevailed
But he couldn’t bear the officialism and longed for creativity. Now when he failed in fulfilling his parent’s aspirations, he got back into his train of dreams. “Being an engineer and technically sound, helped me in designing and producing music to start all over again. I worked on them for few months and remixed some very popular songs of Udit Narayan, Rahat Fateh Ali and Rafi sir”, says RJ Roger.
He started writing songs, composing it and also singing the rap. He co sang with the famous singer Dilbahar Khan in the song ‘jugni chardi AC car’ from the movie Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurrana.
God Fearer
RJ Roger is a firm believer of God. In the last few months God has been kind to him by giving him the big ticket into the entertainment world. He has seen success due to his perseverance and dedication. “There was a time when people felt ashamed of calling me. My friends avoided me and today during OBs, people identify my voice and many of them have come running to hug me and bury me into praises and appreciation”, says RJRoger.
Success could not elude from this enthusiast
After his 9 years of long struggle he got his first break. RJ Roger became an instant hit. People love his magical voice and eagerly wait for his show, ‘chakk de woofer’. This is just the beginning, there’s still a long way to go.
