No one was singing, there were city lights all around

Not a trace of a human touch to be found

I don’t hear the familiar sound

A man just rushed past me

He fell down, he broke a knee

Thousands passed him by

Not looking to see, if he lived or died.

I look up at the sky

I see no stars, only lights

I look closer, I try

To see a bit of sky, where I flew kites

New to the city

The city they told me about

I feel nothing but pity

For the people who don’t have a second to doubt

Their short lives, shortened further

And live by going under,

Losing themselves to the city lights, they surrender.
