There are many rumours about people with big feet. For men, it seems that a certain other endowment is also likely to be big. But of course, as with all other rumours and myths, research comes along and spoils the fun. A research survey conducted with 104 men by University College London debunked the myth. So, what does your foot size about you?
Life expectancy
In 2009, bored with all the lovely cows around them, Swedish epidemiologists decided to study a correlation of foot size with life expectancy. Here’s what they found: The bigger your foot size, the longer your life expectancy. But don’t worry, the low bracket is still 63 years of age, and, they were also sweet enough to add -of course you can live longer than your foot size dictates, with a healthy life full of leafy vegetables, and a lot of running on those little feet.
Here is your death chart:
Are you a cheater?
A UK Based dating website called Illicit Encounters (no efforts to be discreet at all, huh?), found through combing their date that men with foot sized 7 – 9 are most likely to be faithful, while those with sizes 10 and above are much more likely to cheat. In fact, the likelihood of 10 plus to cheat is almost 3 times higher than those with smaller feet! (..and what does that say about clowns?)
Growth spurt
According to Harvard Medical School, big feet are an indication of growth spurt. Bones in the feet grow before all other parts of the body, so if you have bigger feet and have not yet hit adulthood, it is likely that you will experience a growth spurt in your teenage or young adulthood!
Sprinting
Big feet can indicate an athletic body, especially for sprinting. But this only applies if you have longer toes. When you have longer toes, you get a natural push-off when running, which makes you more efficient and speedy. The longer contact with the ground thanks to big feet and big toes definitely helps one to run rather well. To illustrate, Usain Bolt has size 13 feet: big even for his 6’5″ frame. The 6’1″ Justin Gatlin, meanwhile, wears size 12 running spikes.
Shoe Shopping
It looks like bigger feet are rather rare, especially those above size 10. So it maybe difficult to find shoes of your size. Many people with bigger foot sizes have to get their shoes made. For ladies, none of the cute or hot footwear comes in your size and that definitely can be annoying. Here’s an interesting fact which also makes you wonder why we do what we do (like wearing heels, for example):
Nine out of 10 women are wearing shoes that are too small simply because they believe the theory “if the shoe fits, wear it.”
