Anupam Kher - The Man For Whom Nothing Is Impossible

If we have not watched him in Saaransh then we don’t know the talent of Anupam Kher yet. It was his second film and at the age of 28 years and he etched the role of an aged man dealing with the loss of his son. His impactful performance won him a Filmfare award in 1985 for the Best Actor category. Today a multi star cast film is incomplete if Anupam Kher is not in it.

What Anupam Kher contributed to cinema

This man was the sapera in the yester year movie Nagin. He looked so convincing in the role that for once, even we would be forced to believe that yes there does exist something like a naagmani. Even today, he plays many important roles. He had irreplaceable parts in movies like Special 26 and Wake Up Sid!

Anupam Kher has played diverse roles in his 4 decade old journey in the film industry. He was the miser father from Dil & Waqt Humara Hai and also the progressive father in Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge! His acting has so much of finesse in it that everybody else blurs out when Anupam Kher is on screen. He was felicitated with the Critic award for Best Performance in 1999 for his role in the movie Daddy.

Memorable roles of Anupam Kher also include his performance in Hum Aapke Hai Kaun has the adorable Samdhi or the comic relief he brought into films like KKHH & Mohabbatein. Another feather in his cap is the short film he featured in recently: Kheer.

Milestones by Anupam Kher

He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution to Indian cinema in 2004. And he was awarded Padma Bhushan by the Government of India for his contribution to the arts in 2016. He was also chairperson of the censor board until very recently.

Every intelligent man is successful because he does not stop the learning process. When Anupam Kher realized that he has mastered the field of acting, he tried his hands in direction and production. Anupam Kher along with Satish Kaushik founded Karol Bagh productions and the first movie that they produced was Tere Sang. The movie was not a box office success because of its script flaws and factually incorrect details but it was appreciated for its good music, cinematography and art direction.

In the recent days, he has launched an all new Talk show on Republic TV where he interviewed Akshay Kumar in the first episode. The Near Bankruptcy Days & Founding His Acting School

With success come downfall and sometimes the downfall is a sign of something good. During a lean phase of his life, Anupam Kher was almost going to go bankrupt. But his fighting spirit did not let him cave in. In hope of monetizing something which he knows the best – Anupam Kher started an acting school in Mumbai. It is called Actor Prepares and was founded in 2005. The school started in a room with just 12 students. However if you look today the story is quite different.

This acting school has become one of the most trustworthy place for budding actors. In the list of some noteworthy alumni, one name which we all are very proud of is, – Deepika Padukone. Yes she learnt acting from this school at the behest of Farah Khan.
