In life, our actions are closely related to our habits, and knowingly or unknowingly, we exhibit them. We stick to ideologies and principles while approaching allotted tasks. There are few behaviors which we are obsessed to, while there are some which we deter from. The overall analysis of our conduct is based on our practice of good habits. However, there is a fine line between being good and being excellent. Let’s analyze some of the habits which we often do not exercise and should do so to be on top.
1. Change
Change is constant in all of our lives. It is one of the most hostile subjects we can imagine of coming out of our comfort zones. We make a lot of noise for any change; but then none of us want to be changed or be a part of that change.
2. Communicate
At times, we fail to communicate clearly and falter on simple grounds. Communication is the greatest of all gifts which enables us to manage a host of issues, be it connecting with friends or resolving issues with them.
3. Compromise
Compromise might have a negative connotation, but it is a virtue in disguise provided deployed effectively. The biggest compromise in our professional lives is not being able to devote the required time and energy towards our personal lives. However, in the long run, it pays rich dividends.
4. Challenging
Challenging someone is not everyone’s cup of tea. It requires guts, confidence and the extreme will to live by it. Risk aversion is quite common in many, but challenge has its own charm.
5. Collaboration
We love to work in a team, but hardly understand the meaning of collaboration. Our ethos, ego and stubbornness often act as barriers while we are asked to co-operate or collaborate within a team.
6. Consistency
Consistency is a tough art, and very hard to be maintained. When expectations are abound and the track record speaks volumes for someone, there is bound to be a burden (of carrying on the legacy and churning out the best possible results) while performing.
7. Clarify
It is extremely important to clarify our thoughts and also of others to avoid any sort of misinterpretation or miscommunication.Clarifications help in ensuring proper messaging thereby leading to assurance.
8. Check
Amidst all the urgency and hullabaloo, it is crucial to stop for a while, take a step back and check to see how things are moving. A foolproof review mechanism goes on a long way to ensure reality checks, do any quick fixes and arrest any potential issues which might affect performance.
9. Consider
As a Good Samaritan, it is essential to walk in each other’s shoes, consider the other party’s situation and be empathetic. Instead of assuming things or acting on intuitions, it is worthwhile to take into account others’ background, condition or scenario.
10. Celebrate
Achievements are hard to come by in life, and when they come, it’s time to celebrate. Quite often we undermine our efforts by not being ecstatic about our success stories. Any type of feat calls for a toast.
We oversee these critical C’s in the larger scheme of things in life. However, their utility equips us in reaching greater heights.
