Sadaf VidhaSchool is the place where a child’s personality is developed. They learns things for future use however it is quite alarming that no curriculum has been successful enough to make the children street smart. Most children who pass their tenth standard in India, have no clue about many useful aspects of daily life. They are not street smart to do these basic things. Wondering what are these basic things? And whether you know them or not? If not, don’t worry. You can always learn.
1. Opening A Bank Account
The minute you become part of real life, you would need a bank account. It is strange, but this basic procedure is not taught in school. Most children do not know what are valid id/address proofs, the different requirements of a banking account and so on. They are even clueless to know the different kind of bank accounts they can open. Where is the institute which teaches people the basics of a bank account? I am looking for one.
2. Getting Insurance
There is absolutely no knowledge about the various types of insurance policies whatsoever. Most insurance buyers do not know anything about the competitors, the benefits and risks of their policy and so on. This can be especially risky because hospitalization and death both are mentally taxing. And at that time instead of availing the benefit of an insurance policy if one has to spend time learning about it or how to go about making a claim then its quite a hassle.
3. Government proofs
We have no idea in school what are the processes required to get an ID proof like a driver’s license, a PAN card, an aadhar card. Although we can learn these once we visit the relevant offices, not all officers may be keen to our inquiries. Also, voter ID offices don’t work during certain months and can be a waste of time to go there when they aren’t working or with half knowledge of the documents needed.
4. Investment and tax
Mutual funds and other investments that can be done with small, regular sums of money, are a mystery to most of us. We also do not know the difference between tax deduction under TDS and professional fees and sometimes, we may be cheated in these matters. A clear understanding of taxation and tax filing is a must to survive in the financial world.
5. Other Procedures of Daily Life (marriage, name change etc)
Given that the above basic procedures are not covered, it is all the more impossible to fathom that knowledge maybe imparted on legal aspects of marriage, knowing what a stamp paper is used for and looks like, the procedure for name change and so on.
