I recently came upon a place that I escaped to. It gave me more than what I had bargained for. Though the purpose was far from what the experience eventually brought out, the decision to go was worth every bit! Here’s introducing Panchgani – a land that was set like royal dining area, with five massive tables filled with the goodness of nature. ‘Panchgani’ or a the land of ‘five plateaus’ is a place hidden away from the noise of Mumbai. It gave me more than what I could have asked for.
Growing up in a metros we forget the richness of nature. City life turns people into multitudes that enjoy watching concrete walls than a wall of creepers in a forest. This bug does latch onto you once you’re a city dweller. So when was the last time you walked bare feet on grass or just lay on the ground and gazed upon the galaxy? When was the last time that time was just an element that ticked away on a clock? Or when was the last time that time stood still?
Love for Panchgani
This small hill station shows city rats like us what we’re missing out on. Be it the people or even a leaf in the region, every element will teach you the simplicity of life. Being in this region makes you feel small compared to the magnanimity of God’s creation. Panchgani has 5 plateaus that surround it, hence the name and the views. From a small laid back market area that has people buying the basics of life to forests that are untouched and ready to be explored.
Panchgani showed me how we forget to value silence> The stillness in the air that brought about silence felt strange in a way because I could hear myself breathing! All the calmness in the air and the sound of my breath had further calming effects on me. I felt being a part of that ecology. The trees, plants, bushes and creepers made me fall in love with different shades of green. They made me realise the soothing benefits of walking on the soft grass barefoot than on the concrete roads.
One truly forgets the magic nature holds, a magic that can whisk you away to a place that makes time-halt. So if you’re a person who’s worked up, feels choked and feels the need to escape, just run away to a place that’s surrounded with this beauty and a place where you can hear yourself breathe. A place that puts the wealth back in health!
