6. The one who never misses a class
Now this professor is the most dedicated in the faculty. Missing the class is like the 8th sin to them. No matter what, you can never expect an off period when they are on the routine. They insist on taking classes even when a couple of days are left for the exam and the syllabus has been finished. These professors are meticulous and will come to college, even if they have only one student to teach.
7. The confused PhD student
This is a unique kind of professor. These professors are usually very young. They are going through the dreary middle stage of their academic career where they realize that they shouldn’t have started their doctorate, but they are far too much into the system to get out of it. Or they simply like the subject too much. We all know that PhD students are pitiable creatures. This type has just gotten out of a student capacity and without a buffer zone, entered into teaching. They are students at heart, but must maintain a façade of sophistication and discipline. They want to break rules, but they cannot afford to.
8. The Flirt
In movies, we all have seen the flirty professor who hits on all the pretty students in the class. These characters often exist in real life too. When the professor-student relationship becomes too close for comfort, it becomes unethical. However, there are professors who don’t make a spectacle out of it and do it subtly. Personal WhatsApp messages, subtle hints in class, favoring one particular student every time, are some of the methods. Even though it might be fun to watch, the professor might face sexual harassment clauses if he’s being too friendly with someone who doesn’t like it.
9. The one who everyone has a crush on
This is a very common type of professor. We have all had crushes on teachers, whether in school or college. In the college context, the crushes are more intense as the relationship between the student and the teacher is relaxed, and almost like friends at times. The symptoms range from sitting in the front bench in all of their classes, to finishing their assignments early and being extra responsive in classes. However most of these crushes are crushed by the end of the tenure of your college life.
10. The one who’s been there for a long, long time
This type is the professor who has spent their entire life in one institution, imparting quality education to generations of students selflessly. He knows the entire faculty by their nicknames, and has many stories to offer. He is like a parent figure to the institution, and the students have the utmost respect for him. With only a couple of years to retirement, he is the person to go to if you have a problem because he will certainly tell you where to go and who to speak to.
Teachers make the fabric of the country’s education system. With all their eccentricities and discipline (or lack thereof), they are certainly loveable people who make you who you really are.
